Superchargers

What is Forced Induction?

Forced indcution is the process of delivering compressed air to the intake of an internal combustion engine. It increases total compression and maximizes the amount of useful engergy from the fuel.

What is a Supercharger?

A Supercharger is a form of forced induction that uses the crankshaft to move a belt to spin a fan that forces more air into the engine.

How does a Supercharger work?

Unlike turbochargers, superchargers are directly connected to the engine through a belt. The supercharger uses the engine's crankshaft to move the belt. This belt then spins a fan that compresses air above atmospheric pressure to be pushed into the cylinders, allowing for more fuel and a larger explosion, causing increased power.
