About The Author

Hello world!  I'm Mackenzie, owner of the Racing for Pinks site.

I'm originally from Colorado, graduated Principia college near St. Louis in 2018 with Business and Mass Communications degrees.  My dream job is to write for Car and Driver magazine. My interest in cars spans many fields, including both modern and classic cars, but also many events, like drag racing, drifting, autocross, Formula !, and much more.  I'm hoping to include a little of everything on this site.

A question that I get a lot is: "how did you get like this?"  To which my response is usually to laugh, then explain  how I came to love cars.  It all started towards the end of my junior year of high school (although a strong argument could be made for my freshman year when my older brother got subwoofers).  I was assigned to do a project in my Intro to Law class in which I studied illegal car modifications.  It was then that I realized that for some, cars were so much more than transportation.  I learned the work that some people put into their cars and make it an extention of their personality.  Since then, I have become a car enthusiast and am still learning as I possibly can, although I realize I still have years of catching up to do since I was not raised in a car-loving family like many others.  I started out teaching myself about cars, but since then I have met many wonderful friends that have contributed to this journey.

As a woman in this industry, I have sometimes felt unwelcome in the car world.  While this has changed quite a bit in the years since I started, this was a major contribution to why I created this site. I hope that it will be a place for female car enthusiasts to feel welcome and encouraged to speak freely about cars and not be afraid to own and drive any car.  It's also a place where women can come to learn about the basics of car care, to gain understanding and confidence about owning and driving their car.  This is for my fellow female racers, car enthusiasts, and everyone in between!
